How do I join?

Please e-mail us with your intention to join our group and we will send you our constitution and registration form. Please return them with your $30 yearly membership fee by August 26th along with a copy of your HSLDA membership. There will be a registration night for new members at the end of August where you can hand in your forms in person and find out more about our group and meet other members.  Please note that after August 26th the fee will increase to $50.

Returning Members

The deadline for returning members to submit their renewal form, a copy of their HSLDA membership and $30 payment is August 9th, after which the fee will increase to $50.

What is included?

Once you have joined BCEN you will also be a member of OCHEC (Ontario Christian Home Educator’s Connection) of whom we are a subsidiary organization. We will also require you to be part of HSLDA, to have your family covered with the proper insurance, so that you can take part in all our exciting activities through the year, such as: co-op, field trips and monthly parent support meetings.

Please check out the OFTP’s website for an in-depth explanation about the legalities of homeschooling in Ontario. If you are pulling your child out from school HSLDA can help you with filling out the forms to provide the public school board in your area.

With your BCEN membership you will receive a discounted rate to get legal protection for homeschooling in general and insurance for co-op and field trips for $156 per year from HSLDA. If you are just starting out and your oldest child has not reached their 6th birthday HSLDA membership is free. Also included with this cost you will have access to their electronic library of great books and they can provide you with an official student card for a small additional fee.

There are actually many types of curriculum out there that you can choose from, check out our resources page to find links to great sites to help you make your choice.
